This is a photo taken at sunrise at the Merced National Wildlife Refuge. The silhouetted birds are Sandhill Cranes. This refuge is located in California's northern San Joaquin Valley and is critically important for wintering waterfowl. It attracts large concentrations of ducks, geese, other birds, and Sandhill Cranes.
