This is a photo of birds (Sandhill Cranes) flying as the glowing sun rises at the Merced National Wildlife Refuge. This refuge is located in California's northern San Joaquin Valley and is critically important for wintering waterfowl. It attracts large concentrations of ducks, geese, other birds, and Sandhill Cranes.
I love the art of photography and through it I try to capture the beauty of nature and the world around me. I have lived on the central coast of California near the town of Avila Beach for most of my life which has given me many photographic opportunities in this beautiful area. I also love the Sierra Nevada mountains and have photographed extensively on both the western and eastern sides.
